Casa Waka Carillo is only a few minutes away from Playa Samara. Samara can be reached by car using the bridge that crosses the gulf of Nicoya. You do not need to take the ferry coming from Puntarenas. Samara can be reached from the San Jose airport in 4 hours by car. Daily direct busses connect to San José and there are flights to San José from the small airstrip of Carrillo, 7 km south of Samara. The town of Samara offers all of the shops and infrastructure you will need. High-speed Internet is currently installed and accessible. The town has a wide variety of restaurants and bars, as well as shops offering clothes or groceries. Several banks are located in town as well. The nearest hospital and recommended school is located in Nicoya. Hotels in Samara run the gamut from budget cabinas, to cozy B&B, boutique hotels and vacation rentals. Most people believe, for good reason, that Playa Samara is the most beautiful and secure white sandy beach in all of Costa Rica. A unique characteristic of Samara is its offshore reef, protecting swimmers and divers from dangerous currents and ensuring that it is safe to explore the wonderful underwater world, enjoying water sports or taking a trip with the whole family. Next to the reef is Chora Island which is home to colonies of maritime birds. Other water sports in Samara include windsurfing, sport fishing, or kayaking along the coast or into the river estuary of the Rio Ora. For this reason, the beach of Samara is especially recommended for divers or for families with children. |
