Location / Vicinity

Playa Jaco is a growing beach town on the Pacific coast of Puntarenas, and is the closest beach location to San José. Jaco is located between several mountains, and is neighbored by the beaches of Herradura Bay to the North, and Playa Hermosa to the South. The Carara National Park is situated at about 20 kilometers North of Jaco. It is recognized for its exuberant wildlife and dense rain forest. Carara is home to one of the largest remaining populations of wild Scarlet Macaw in the country. Jaco can be considered as one of the country\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'s most developed coastal cities. Because of the recently completed highway connecting San José to Caldera, Playa Jaco is now reachable within an 1.5 hours. Jaco offers nearly the same level of infrastructure as San José does. Here you can find banks, grocery stores, supermarkets, restaurants, bars, small and large hotels, medical care, golf courses, and shopping malls.
