Optimal location! Lots of privacy, but shops in walking or cycling distance. Grab your bike and ride within minutes to Puerto Viejos and the beaches. Smaller errands you do in Puerto Viejo. Here you have also a bank, physician, pharmacy and hardware store. Several buses leave daily to San Jose or Limon. By car you need about 3 hours to get to San Jose, by bus 4 hours. Until the late 1970’s, Puerto Viejo was relatively isolated from the rest of Costa Rica. Then in 1979 a new road connected the small village to the Central Valley. Electricity arrived, supplying light and other important conveniences to the town in 1986. In 1996 private phone lines became available. And in 2006 high speed Internet was offered. Today, Puerto Viejo is as modern and touristy as any beach town and yet retains its original charm. The climate is unpredictable, though common wisdom says that when the rest of Costa Rica is rainy, the southern Caribbean is drier. The best times to visit Puerto Viejo are during February, March and April or August, September and October. Casa Oanda de Playa Chiquita offers the relaxation that you deserve just off downtown. Nevertheless you have the benefit of good restaurants and excursion possibilities. You meet a lot of world wide travelers, find all necessary services and yet - this is a quite remote area of Costa Rica. |
