Hot-Springs Project PDF Print

The history

In 1995, twelve businessmen, including myself, flew from Miami International Airport to Costa Rica in search of a hot water cascade and springs. It was thought that these springs existed deep in the jungle near a small coffee town. Packing tents and supplies on mules and horses, we proceeded deep into the jungle with guides who were native to the area. As the natives searched, we followed. Late in the afternoon of the following day, while traveling down one of the many river streams, we spotted steam blowing off large rocks, and as we walked closer, we found a cascade of hot water and hot water springs surfacing at many locations.
Realizing that we were miles away from our campsite, we decided to stay overnight and made a makeshift campsite of banana leaves. This was constructed quickly to protect everyone against mosquitoes, bats, and other nocturnal animals. At daylight the following day, we headed down the river and soon discovered that the hot springs were actually located near the town of Quepos. Soon after this discovery, a corporation was formed, and over 2,000 acres of land surrounding the hot springs were purchased. The corporation then decided to construct a lodge.
Unlike Manuel Antonio, the lodge sits eight miles deep into the jungle. Materials were brought in by mules and horses on old Indian trails. Utilizing abundant fallen trees, lumber was cut by the use of large chain saw mills. A dam was constructed along with two “Pelton” water turbines and solar panels were installed to provide electricity. Finally, in January of 2001, a new gravel road was completed, giving easy access to vehicles and to everyone who chooses to stay at our lodge.

About the Hot-Springs Project

The Hot-Springs Project offers an opportunity to relax and renew in the mineral-laden water with seemingly magical powers. Bathe among the several pools with cascades of steaming water. Along the way, you'll be overwhelmed by the beautiful plants and flowers, birds and butterflies, and other wildlife of the Costa Rican rain forest. You'll explore several magnificent caverns, and climb a "Mountain of Gold." Experience a Costa Rica vacation of a lifetime!
The Hot Springs Project was created to offer a totally new and different option for those who come to the Central Pacific Area. Our property is located 45 minutes from Quepos and Manuel Antonio beach in 830 hectares (2000 acres) of pristine forest in the mountains. The first area of the project is located right at the entrance of the property, while the rest of the forest has been left untouched and available for discovering its secrets.
The lodge has eight comfortable rooms including a restaurant with Costa Rican food and typical bar, surrounded by exotic plants, nice gardens, and the sounds of pure water running through the rocks of the nearby river. Our guests can fish in the river, swim, or explore its waterfalls.
Within the next months, we will create great pools of hot mineral water surrounded by the rain forest, making this place unique in the whole area. Time spent in our mineral pools will be a great way to relieve the aches and pains of traveling. Many people say their arthritis and rheumatism have been greatly helped by their visits to the hot springs. It is our goal that all who come here searching for relaxation and invigoration, will leave us healthier than when they arrived, having warmed the body, eased the heart, and replenished the soul.
The amazing tropical forest and activities like horseback riding, guided nature tours, sportfishing and more are mixed into the rich coast of the Central Pacific of Costa Rica.

The Hot Springs

As you explore the remainder of this parcel of land, you will see numerous waterfalls before you begin to smell the sulpher from the 120° F hot springs. The location of the hot springs was privy only to the indigenous tribes for centuries, until just a few years ago when we discovered these magical waters. Not only are these waters extremely relaxing but the Central American Indians have known about the healing qualities of these mud baths and mineral springs for generations. Within the next months, we will create great pools of hot mineral water surrounded by the rain forest, making this place unique in the whole area.

The Lodge

Amongst the available lots, at the edge of the River Canas, sits the Lodge on more than 10,000 square meters (approx. 2 1/2 acres). Built as our home-away-from-home for exploring this amazing property, this jungle lodge offers eight bedrooms, each with its own private bath and shower, and a restaurant and bar.
Surrounded by exotic plants, nice gardens, and the sounds of pure water running through the rocks of the nearby river, guests can fish in the river, swim, or explore its waterfalls. The lighting for the lodge is powered by solar panels and a clever "hydro plant" that uses the constant water supply from the mountains.

Available Building Lots

The Hot Springs Project is part of an amazing parcel of more than 2000 acres of pristine rainforest and untouched woodlands located high above the Pacific Coast towns of Quepos and Manuel Antonio. This property’s combination of natural beauty, wildlife, and nearby towns and amenities is unsurpassed. The four phases of development planned for this property will involve less than seven percent of the total parcel. The remaining 93 percent will be preserved as natural greenspace - leaving more than 1,800 acres of rainforest as your backyard. A overview of prices and a survey map you find below:
