San Mateo is located at the foot of the Atenas Mountains, on the direction to the famous pacific beaches of Playa Jaco, Playa Hermosa and Playa Herradura. The climate is pretty warm and the beaches are attainable within 30-40 minutes. The international airport of Alajuela is reachable within 1,5 hours. Soon a freeway to Caldera will be completed, which heavily shortens this distance. San Mateo provides a bank, some smaller shops as well as several doctors. Orotina is only 5-10 minutes away and offers a brand new supermarket (Megasuper). The house provides electricity and water supply.
